This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Mike Forbes during the 1979-80 NHL season. The Boston Bruins selected Forbes in the 3rd round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. Mike spent the 1977-78 season playing as a rookie in Boston. The remainder of his NHL career consisted of parts of two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, 1979-80 and 1981-82. Forbes also spent time in the AHL, CHL and IHL, before retiring from the sport in 1987.
Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the City of Edmonton 75-year anniversary patch. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops and inner pilling. A custom skate lace style fight strap has been attached to the original loop style fight strap that is sewn to the verso just beneath the back player numbers. This jersey was part of the Peter Pocklington Collection of Edmonton Oilers jerseys that entered the hobby about two decades ago. A beautiful patched gamer from the Oilers inaugural NHL season, as Gretzky and the boys took to the NHL ice for the very first time. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
