Description
1979-80 Doug Halward Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey Career Best 45 Assists & 56 Points Season
Lot #53

This home gold heavy mesh gamer by Goodman & Sons was worn by Doug Halward during the 1979-80 NHL season. Halward was simultaneously selected in the 1975 NHL and WHA Amateur Drafts by the Boston Bruins in the 1st round of the NHL Draft and the Quebec Nordiques in the 2nd round of the WHA Draft. This Toronto native chose the NHL and made his professional debut in 1975-76 with the Bruins. After three seasons skating for Don Cherry’s Bruins, Halward joined the LA Kings for three seasons before a deadline deal in the spring of 1981 sent him to Vancouver. Halward spent 7 years playing for the Canucks and helped the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1982, his first full season with the squad. Doug wrapped up his playing days following parts of three seasons in Detroit and a partial season with the Edmonton Oilers. All told this defenseman spent 14 years clearing creases and roaming the NHL bluelines.

The game wear on this size 48 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and some significant zipper style team-sewn repair work found about the body and sleeves. The fight strap on this jersey was relocated for Halward from the lower section of the back-player number to the mid-section by the team. Halward put forth a terrific season while wearing this jersey, striking for 11 goals and 45 assists for 56 points in just 63 games played. It marked career bests for assists and points for this venerable defenseman. A well-worn vintage purple and gold that is now more than 40-years removed from the ice.
