1979-80 Dayton Gems Game Worn Jersey Player #14
Lot #221

This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by player #14 during the 1979-80 IHL season. The Gems originally existed in the IHL from 1964-77 before disbanding. They returned in 1979-80 for a lone season, wearing a brand-new styled uniform. Coached by Bill Selman and featuring future NHL enforcer Dwight Schofield, the team failed to make the playoffs and again disbanded after one season of play.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Rawlings tag. The game wear on this size 48 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and a few runs, heavy inner pilling and some nice team-sewn repair work. This is the first example of this tough style that we recall ever seeing at major auction. A stunning looking colorful and rare one-year style that features nice game use and would enhance any serious minor league collection.
