Description
1979-80 Bobby Schmautz Colorado Rockies Game Worn Jersey
Lot #75

This home white mesh gamer by Champion was worn by Bobby Schmautz during the 1979-80 NHL season. Schmautz began his career in 1967 with the Chicago Black Hawks. In 1970-71 he became a member of the expansion Vancouver Canucks and remained with the club into his 4th season when he was dealt to the Boston Bruins. Bobby would spend the next seven seasons in Beantown. During his 7 years in Boston Schmautz played in 3 Stanley Cup Finals and led the NHL in playoff goal scoring with 11 in 1977. Two trades during the 1979-80 season took Schmautz from Boston to Edmonton and then onto Colorado. He was signed as a free agent by the Canucks prior to the 1980-81 season, which was his final year in the league.

Schmautz scored a career high 38 goals and 137 PIMS for the Canucks in 1973. He would then play in the 1973 and 1974 NHL All Star games. He wrapped up his career with an impressive 271 goals and 557 points and the admiration of fans in both Boston and Vancouver, where he spent the majority of his playing days.

Offered here is Bobby’s home jersey from his brief 20-game stint with the Colorado Rockies. Schmautz lit the lamp 9 times and added 4 helpers for a total of 13 points in those 20 games. Most remarkable though may be that he accumulated 53 PIMS in those 20 games! The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of board paint transfer, un-repaired holes and inner pilling. A nice vintage offering.
