Description
1979-80 Bob Fitchner Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey - Inaugural NHL Season
Lot #321
This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Bob Fitchner during the 1979-80 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Fitchner in the 6th round of the 1970 NHL Amatuer Draft. He began his career in the WHA with the Edmonton Oilers in 1973-74 and would spend 6 seasons in the fledgling league. During that time Bob represented the Oilers for a year, the Indianapolis Racers for parts of 2 and then spent the next 4+ years with the Nordiques. Fitchner then transferred with the club during the 1979-80 NHL expansion, spending his last 2 seasons with the Nords in the NHL.

The game wear on this inaugural season sweater is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops and fine areas of pilling both inside and out. A nice example from the club’s 1st year in the league and the only one that saw the Nords wear these Sandow SK made sweaters, thus forever tying them to the franchise’s first NHL season.
