1978 Ivan Boldirev NHL All Star Game Worn Jersey - Career Best 35-Goal Season
Lot #39

The Boston Bruins selected Boldirev in the 1st round of the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. This Yugoslavian native made his NHL debut in 1970-71 with the Bruins where he spent parts of two seasons before joining the California Golden Seals for a three-year stint. Ivan joined the Chicago Blackhawks in 1974-75 and remained with the club for five seasons. During that time, Boldirev put forth a career best 35-goal and 80-Point season in 1977-78, earning himself an NHL All Star Game appearance. Boldirev would go on to play for the Atlanta Flames, the Vancouver Canucks, where in 1982 he went to the Stanley Cup Finals, and finally the Detroit Red Wings. Over the course of a 15-year NHL career, this talented center iceman scored 361 goals and 866 points in 1052 games played.

The 1978 NHL All Star Game was held in Buffalo, NY and is considered among the greatest NHL All Star Games of all-time. The Wales Conference erased an early 2-0 Campbell Conference lead, as Buffalo winger Rick Martin scored the game-tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in the 3rd period to send it to overtime. Nearly four minutes into the sudden death period, hometown hero Gilbert Perreault delighted the crowd with the game-winner to give the Wales Conference a 3-2 victory.

This stunning orange knit marks the only NHL All Star game jersey that Boldirev wore during his NHL career. Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the size and Cosby tagging. The game wear on this size 50 sweater is on the lighter side with some nice inner pilling running along the inside of both mid to upper sleeve regions. Boldirev scored a career best 35 goals while also leading the Chicago Blackhawks in (35) goals, (45) assists and (80) points during the 1977-78 season. A terrific example from Ivan’s only All Star Game appearance that should especially appeal to the Chicago Blackhawks enthusiasts.
