1978-79 Tony Piroski Toledo Goaldiggers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #219

This home white mesh and knit gamer by Rawlings was worn by Tony Piroski during the 1978-79 IHL season. This native of Windsor, Ontario spent a couple of years with the Windsor Spitfires before embarking on a professional career that spanned 6 IHL seasons. Piroski spent the majority of his time as a member of the Toledo Goaldiggers and also played briefly for the Port Huron Flags and the Kalamazoo Wings. This popular Goalie also served as the Toledo Head Coach in the mid 1980’s.

The game wear on this size 52 sweater is solid and consists of stick and puck marks, goal post paint transfer, a small un-repaired hole, general filth and pilling. Piroski carried a heavy workload and wore this sweater in defense of their 1978 Turner Cup Championship. Offensively the team was led by Mike Eruzione who played for the Goaldiggers in 1977-78 and 1978-79 before joining Herb Brooks’ U.S. Olympic Team and making hockey history in 1979-80. Piroski is shown sitting alongside Eruzione in the team photo above. A beautiful well-worn example by this popular Toledo goaltender.
