Description
1978-79 Terry Murray Flyers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #66

This home white mesh gamer by Goodman & Sons and Bill Vanderburg was worn by Terry Murray during the 1978-79 NHL season. Murray, a two-time Eddie Shore Award winner in the AHL, began his NHL career with the California Golden Seals in the early 1970’s. After 3 seasons, he joined the Broad Street Bullies, the two-time defending champs who would make their way to the Stanley Cup Finals for the 3rd straight season. Terry spent 4 seasons with the Flyers before one final year in Washington, after which he announced his retirement. His time in hockey was far from finished however, as Murray became a regular behind the bench. He has been in the coaching business nearly 30 years, dating back to 1983-84. In 1996-97 Murray guided the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Barry Ashbee patch has been removed from the shoulder of this gamer. The game wear on this sweater is on the light side with evidence of stick marks and inner pilling, which is consistent with Murray’s limited schedule with the Flyers that season. On the right breast is a black sharpie signature in Murray’s own hand.
