1978-79 Robbie Moore Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #58
This home white mesh and knit gamer by Goodman & Sons and Bill Vanderburg was worn by Robbie Moore during the 1978-79 NHL season. The New England Whalers selected Moore in the 11th round of the 1974 WHA Amateur Draft. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Moore made his NHL debut in 1978-79 with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers had lost Bernie Parent to a career ending eye injury during the season, providing Moore his chance to play in the NHL. Moore partook in 5 regular season and 5 more playoff contests during that year while wearing this very sweater on home ice. Robbie would also make an NHL appearance with the Washington Capitals in 1982-83. Robbie was a decorated AHL goalie who captured 3 consecutive Harry Hap Holmes Memorial Awards from 1978-79 thru 1980-81.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the Goodman and Vanderburg tags. The game wear on this size L sweater is solid and consists of many stick and puck marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and areas of fine pilling. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photo matches of Moore wearing this exact jersey on Spectrum ice, including a dated wire photo taken during the 1979 playoffs in the Quarter Final round against the New York Rangers. A terrific vintage photo matched example that is a missing link in many Flyers goaltending collections!
