Description
1978-79 Pierre Larouche Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #13

This road red dureen gamer by Wilson was worn by Pierre Larouche during the 1978-79 NHL season. Larouche was selected 8th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft after an incredible 251 point season in his last year in the QMJHL. Larouche spent parts of 4 years with the Penguins, where in 1975-76 he lit the lamp 53 times en route to a 111-point season. He joined the Montreal Canadiens in 1977-78 right in the midst of their dynasty, and won the Stanley Cup in each of his first two seasons with the club despite battling injuries and missing time. The 1979-80 season saw Larouche play his first full season with Les Habitants and he responded in style netting exactly 50 goals. During the 1981-82 campaign the Canadiens were dismantling the dynasty team and dealt Pierre to Hartford where he played for parts of two seasons. In 1983-84 Larouche joined the Rangers and nearly scored 50 goals for his 3rd different team. He sent an impressive 48 pucks into the net in 77 contests in his first season on Broadway. Pierre would finish his career as a Ranger after 5 seasons. In 812 games, Larouche, a 2-time NHL All Star, scored 395 goals and scored 822 points, totals that are quite impressive for the era in which he played.

Sewn into the hem of this magnificent gamer is the 1978-year tag. This amazing sweater was worn during the season that made the Canadiens a dynasty as they went onto their 4th consecutive Stanley Cup championship. The game wear on this vintage dureen is solid consisting of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, heavy inner pilling and a dozen and a half team-sewn repairs. Also worthy of mention is a plate reattachment, a commonality with the Habs 4th cup year sweaters. Larouche partook in 42 games between the regular season and playoffs en route to the Stanley Cup. Offered here is his road sweater from that history-making season!
