1978-79 Jacques Lemaire Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey - Stanley Cup Season
Lot #18
This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Jacques Lemaire during the 1978-79 Stanley Cup winning season. Lemaire began his NHL career with Les Habitants in 1967-68 and spent his entire 12-year NHL career in Montreal. In 853 career games, lemaire netted 366 goals and 835 points on his way to the Hall of Fame. The 1972-73 season was a career best for Lemaire who lit the lamp 44 times and totaled 95 points. Lemaire centered the Hall of Fame line of himself with Steve Shutt on the left and Guy Lafleur on the right, forming one of hockey’s deadliest combinations. Jacques was a 2-time NHL All Star who won a remarkable 8 Stanley Cups in 12 seasons! He was most deservingly inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of board paint transfer from the boards at the old Montreal Forum, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and about a dozen team-sewn repairs. A spectacular example that was worn during Lemaire’s last NHL season as the Canadiens were winning their 4th Cup in 4 years and cementing themselves as a dynasty, choice!
