Description
1978-79 Don Lever Vancouver Canucks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #22
This home yellow heavy-weight mesh gamer by Goodman & Sons and Bill Vanderburg was worn by Don Lever during the 1978-79 and/or 1979-80 NHL season. The Vancouver Canucks selected Lever in the 1st round of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. This South Porcupine, ONT native made his NHL debut in 1972-73 with Vancouver where he played for 8 seasons. During the 1979-80 season, Lever was dealt to the Atlanta Flames where he spent the next few years representing Atlanta and Calgary. Lever would go on to represent the Colorado Rockies, the inaugural New Jersey Devils, where he skated for a few years and was named their first Team Captain and finally the Buffalo Sabres. All told this forward appeared in 1020 games over the course of 15 NHL seasons. Lever had three 30-Goal seasons to his credit and played in the 1982 NHL All Star Game.

Sewn into the hem of this gamer are the Goodman and Vanderburg tags. Removed from the left breast is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this size 48 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, fine inner pilling and a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs. Removed from the upper verso and lost to history is the player nameplate. This terrific vintage offering is completely fresh to the hobby and is being offered for the first time. A well-worn former Captain’s jersey hailing from the coveted and short-lived Goodman sets of “V” Style Canucks sweaters from the late 1970’s.
