This rare Cold War Era gamer originated from the personal collection of Team Canada’s Physician, Dr. Charles Bull.
This red mesh and knit gamer by Kisapuku was worn by Viktor Zhluktov circa the 1977-79 seasons. Zhluktov’s tremendous career spanned 1973-85. During that time, Viktor captured 11 Soviet titles, 5 World Championships and 4 European Championships. He partook in and won the 1979 Challenge Cup, won Bronze in the 1976 Canada Cup and Gold in the 1981 Canada Cup. Viktor won the 1976 Olympic Gold Medal and was part of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic squad that fell to the Team USA Miracle on Ice squad. During the 1976 Canada Cup, Zhluktov tied for the Goal and Scoring titles with 5 Goals and 9 Points while playing 2 fewer games than his Canadian counterparts. Zhluktov centered the Hall of Fame tandem of Makarov, Krutov, Fetisov and Kasatonov in the years prior to Igor Larionov joining the Soviet National Team and thus forming the famed “KLM” line.
Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturers and wash tagging. The game wear on this size 54-56 sweater is solid and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes and inner pilling. A beautiful Cold War Era example with terrific provenance worn by this Olympic Gold Medal winning “Mustached Man”, choice!
