Description
1977-78 Jacques Cossette Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey
Lot #26

This road blue mesh gamer by Stall & Dean was worn by Jacques Cossette during the 1977-78 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Cossette in the 2nd round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. Cossette, who starred for the AHL’s Hershey Bears, made his NHL debut in 1975-76 with the Penguins. This wingers’ NHL career was brief, spanning a total of 3 seasons, 1975-76 thru 1978-79. He spent all of them with the team that drafted him, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturers, wash, size and year tagging. The game wear on this size 52 sweater is solid and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, fine inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. In addition there is some team-sewn repair work on the crest to aid as reinforcement. A double garter style fight strap remains sewn to the inside back player numbers while a number change is also worthy of mention. This vintage set of gamers marked the style change from dureen to Stall & Dean, the last iteration of the “Blue Penguins Era” before switching to black and gold in 1980. This stunning example features the desirable sewn on tackle twill crest, lettering and numbering. A wonderful fresh to the hobby 40-year old gamer from the Blue Penguins Era!
