Description
1977-78 Hugh Harris WHA Cincinnati Stingers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #32

This road black mesh gamer by Russell Athletic was worn by Hugh Harris during the 1977-78 WHA season. This Toronto native began his professional career in 1967-68 in the IHL where he played for four seasons. Harris next joined the AHL and skated there for parts of three years before making his NHL debut in 1972-73 with the Buffalo Sabres. Hugh joined the WHA in 1973-74 and proceeded to represent the New England Whalers, Vancouver Blazers, Phoenix Roadrunners, Calgary Cowboys, Indianapolis Racers and Cincinnati Stingers over the course of the next five seasons. Harris netted a career best 33 goals and 77 points in 1974-75 while splitting time with Vancouver and Phoenix.

Sewn perfectly into the collar of this gamer is the Russell Athletic manufacturers size tagging. The game wear on this size XL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Also worthy of mention is the nameplate not being original to the jersey. Harris played just 45 games for the Stingers after arriving from Indianapolis. During those 45 games, Hugh scored 11 goals and added 23 assists for 34 points to go along with 30 PIMS while wearing this sweater during road games. A nice vintage offering from the final season of this 30-goal scorer’s WHA career.
