Description
1977-78 Hilliard Graves Vancouver Canucks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #48
This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Hilliard Graves during the 1977-78 NHL season. Graves made his NHL debut in 1970-71 with the California Golden Seals where he played for three seasons before joining the Atlanta Flames. Following parts of three years with the Flames, Graves was dealt to the Vancouver Canucks where he played for three seasons before being claimed by the Winnipeg Jets in the Expansion Draft. All told, Graves spent 9 seasons roaming the right wing in the NHL. He scored a career best 27 goals in 1972-73 with the Golden Seals.

The game wear on this 1st set sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, exterior pilling, material runs, fine inner pilling and team-sewn repair work on the right sleeve. The original custom fight strap remains perfectly affixed to the inner verso while the nameplate is completely original and a treat most worthy of mention. This very tough style was part of the first set of sweaters worn by Vancouver during the 1977-78 season. This is the only example that we recall seeing at Major Auction that hails from this tough first set of sweaters and best of all it remains in its all-original form. A terrific vintage offering!
