1977-78 Don Marcotte Bruins Game Worn Jersey - Don Marcotte Letter
Lot #50

This game worn jersey comes from the personal collection of Don Marcotte. A letter from Mr. Marcotte will accompany your purchase.

This road black mesh gamer by Stall & Dean was worn by Don Marcotte during the 1977-78 NHL season. Marcotte spent his entire career as a member of the Bruins, which encompassed 15 different seasons. He was on both the 1970 and 1972 Stanley Cup winning teams as well as all of the late 1970’s clubs that could defeat anybody in the league except for the Montreal Canadiens dynasty. All told, Don played in the Stanley Cup Finals 5 times. Marcotte was an adept 2-way player with better than 200 career goals. His career high of 31 came in 1974-75. He always accepted the task of facing the opposition’s top line and regularly found himself on the ice in short-handed situations. For year after year, during the late 1970’s, Marcotte was given the task of shadowing Guy Lafleur who was hockey’s most dominating player at the time. Don was one of the players that epitomized the Bruins work ethic of the 1970’s and will forever be beloved by the Bruins faithful.

Sewn perfectly into the collar are the manufacturer’s, wash, size and year tagging. The game wear on this sweater is simply outstanding consisting of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling and by our count in excess of 50 team-sewn repairs! Worn during the exciting 1977-78 season, as the Bruins went to the Cup Finals for a 2nd straight year only to fall at the hands of the Canadiens dynasty. This sweater brings back memories of the Don Cherry era in Boston, a time when many Bostonians fell in love with their hockey team. This striking Stall & Dean gamer comes directly from the personal collection of Don Marcotte, where it had remained for 30 years prior to entering our hobby, choice.
