Description
1977-78 Bobby Sheehan WHA Indianapolis Racers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #37

This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Bobby Sheehan during the 1977-78 WHA season. Sheehan was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 3rd round of the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. This Weymouth, MA native played for the Canadiens in 1969-70 and 1970-71 before heading to the California Golden Seals for the 1971-72 sesaaon. Bobby jumped to the WHA for their inaugural season in 1972-73 and played for the NY Raiders. It turned out to be Bobby's best season as he netted 35 goals and 88 points for the Raiders, which was good for 2nd in team scoring behind only Ron Ward. Bobby played for the Golden Blades/Knights in 1973-74 and then two more seasons in the WHA for the Oilers before returning to the NHL with the Black Hawks for a full 1975-76 campaign. Bobby played for the Red Wings in 1976-77 and then returned to the WHA with the Indianapolis Racers in 1977-78. Sheehan made his New York Rangers debut during the 1979 playoffs as the Broadway Blueshirts trekked to the Stanley Cup Finals. Bobby registered 4 goals and 7 points in 15 playoff games with New York. He next spent a couple of seasons with the Colorado Rockies and a final year with the LA Kings.

The game wear on this size 46 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. The original nameplate is a treat most worthy of mention. Sewn to the inner verso is the original stunted loop style fight strap. Sheehan appeared in 29 games for the Racers during the 1977-78 season and wore this gamer on home ice to put a wrap on his successful WHA career before returning to the NHL and the Stanley Cup Finals the following season with the New York Rangers. A terrific all-original vintage dureen from Sheehan’s last WHA season.
