Description
1976-78 Gary Simmons Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #55
This road purple mesh gamer by Goodman & Sons was worn by Gary Simmons during the 1976-77 or the 1977-78 NHL season. Simmons, who is best known for his famed Cobra mask, spent 4 seasons in the NHL. He began his career in 1974-75 with the California Seals and spent 2 seasons sharing the goaltending duties with Gilles Meloche. He transferred with the franchise to Cleveland and spent part of the 1976-77 season with the Barons before joining the LA Kings during the 2nd half of the 1976-77 season where he served as Rogie Vachon’s backup and appreared in 4 games. Simmons also spent the 1977-78 season backing up Vachon in Los Angeles, appearing in 14 games, the last of his NHL career.

The game wear on this size 52 sweater is on the lighter side, as would be expected based on “The Cobra’s” limited schedule, with some stick and puck marks and inner pilling worthy of mention. A real tough to find gamer from the short-lived NHL career of this very popular 1970’s goaltender.
