1976-77 Michel Plasse Colorado Rockies Game Worn Jersey – Inaugural Season – Opening Game
Lot #25
This jersey originates from the personal collection of Doug Favell and his signed LOA will accompany your purchase.

This home white mesh gamer by Champion was worn by Michel Plasse during the Colorado Rockies opening game of the 1976-77 NHL season, the inaugural year for the franchise. The Montreal Canadiens selected Plasse with the 1st overall pick in the 1968 NHL Amateur Draft. This Montreal native made his NHL debut in 1970-71 with the St. Louis Blues where he played for one season. Plasse next played for a couple of seasons with the Canadiens before going on to represent the Scouts, Penguins, Rockies and Nordiques. All told this Goalie spent 11 seasons between the NHL pipes.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Champion tag. The game wear on this size 48 sweater is light as would be expected. Plasse opened the Rockies inaugural season wearing #30, while Favell wore #31. Plasse relieved Favell during the third period of the season opener while wearing this very sweater. Favell goes on to explain in his letter that he switched from #31 to #33 very early in the season and that Plasse took over Favell’s #31 at the same time. This rare style with the diminutive crest was worn at the very outset of the Rockies inaugural season, before the team switched to their permanent larger crested set. A terrific piece of Colorado Rockies history to go along with perfect provenance, originally hailing from the personal collection of Doug Favell whose signed LOA will accompany your purchase.
