1976-77 Greg Malone Penguins Game Worn Jersey - Rookie Jersey
Lot #6

This spectacular road blue dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Greg Malone during his rookie NHL season of 1976-77. Malone began his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1976-77 after being selected 19th overall in the 1976 NHL entry draft. Greg would remain with his original team for 7 years before being dealt to the Hartford Whalers in 1983. After a 2 + year stint in Hartford, Malone headed north to Quebec where he finished his career with the Nordiques. His career highs of 35 goals and 125 PIMS all came while wearing the Penguins colors.

Sewn perfectly into the collar of this blue Pittsburgh Penguins dureen is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag. Sewn to the chest is the beautiful Skating Penguins crest. The game wear is just perfect, consisting of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, fine inner pilling, and in excess of a dozen team-sewn repairs.

This rare and beautiful jersey style was only worn by the Penguins during the mid 1970’s, some 30 odd years ago. Revered by Penguins and type style collectors alike, examples from this period in Pittsburgh hockey history rarely find their way to market. This Greg Malone rookie gamer is an exceptional representation of such, and is ready to hang as a cornerstone item in your collection.
