Description
1976-77 Greg Carroll WHA Cincinnati Stingers Game Worn Jersey Rookie
Lot #26
This vintage Cincinnati Stingers game worn jersey is being offered to the hobby for the very first time. Our consignor, an Ohio based Cincinnati Stingers fan, acquired it from the team back in the 1970’s and has kept it incredibly preserved for the past 40 years!

This road black dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Greg Carroll during the 1976-77 WHA season, his rookie year. The Washington Capitals selected Carroll in the 1st round of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft; the same year that the Cincinnati Stingers selected Caroll in the 2nd round of the WHA Amateur Draft. Caroll opted for the riches of the WHA and began his professional career in 1976-77 with the Stingers. After a couple of seasons in the WHA, Carroll joined the NHL and spent time with Washington, Detroit and Hartford before retiring.

The game wear on this size 48 heavy dureen is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and heavy inner pilling. Sewn inside just beneath the back player numbers is the original fight strap. On the back player number is a heavily faded autograph in Carroll’s own hand. This outstanding offering shows terrific game use and is fresh to the hobby after having been wonderfully preserved over the past four decades in a private collection, choice!
