Description
1976-77 Blair Davidson WHA Phoenix Roadrunners Game Worn Jersey
Lot #21

This road blue dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Blair Davidson during the 1976-77 WHA season. The Detroit Red Wings and Phoenix Roadrunners each selected Davidson in the 3rd round of their respective entry drafts. This Manitoba native played 4 seasons of junior hockey with the Flin Flon Bombers between 1971-75 before embarking on a brief professional career. Blair spent the 1975-76 season in the CHL with the Tucson Mavericks and then played for most of the following CHL season with the Oklahoma City Blazers. Davidson spent a brief couple of games in the WHA with the Phoenix Roadrunners in 1976-77. This tough defenseman eventually went on to play for the University of Manitoba.

This striking example was worn during the Roadrunners last WHA season. These gamers featured brilliant chain stitching on a tackle twill crest along with all-sewn-on lettering and numbering. Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Rawlings manufacturers tag. The game wear on this size 46 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. The all-original nameplate is a treat most worthy of mention as is the heavily customized fight strap. Considered among the most beautiful of all of the WHA gamers, these heavy weight dureens are always in demand amongst collectors and have been tough to find of late. This example is actually the first Phoenix WHA jersey that we’ve had the pleasure to bring to auction. A stunning all-original dureen that would brighten up any WHA collection of gamers, choice!
