1975-77 Willi Plett Tulsa Oilers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #410
This home white mesh gamer by Champion was worn by Willi Plett during the 1975-77 CHL seasons. The Atlanta Flames selected Plett in the 5th round of the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. Plett made his NHL debut in 1975-76 with the Flames where he played until moving with the franchise to Calgary. Following 7 seasons with the Flames, Willi joined the Minnesota North Stars where he played for five years before spending a final season with the Boston Bruins. Plett won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year in 1976-77. Willi had a pair of 30-goal seasons including a career best 38 goals in 1980-81. This tough guy put up a dozen consecutive seasons with triple digit PIMS, including a career best 316 in 1983-84 with the North Stars. All told, Plett played in 834 games and amassed 2572 PIMS, ranking him 16th on the NHL’s all-time list!

The game wear on this size 46 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and team-sewn repair work. Attached to the inner verso is the original garter style fight strap. Originally sourced directly from the family, this well-worn minor league sweater would make a tremendous addition to any vintage collection.
