1975-77 Ron Busniuk WHA New England Whalers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #30

This road green dureen gamer by Cosby was worn by Ron Busniuk during the 1975-77 WHA seasons. Busniuk played his collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth before joining the AHL’s Montreal Voyageurs in 1970. This enforcer made his NHL debut in 1972-73 with the Buffalo Sabres where he played briefly for parts of two seasons. In 1974-75, Busniuk joined the WHA and spent parts of two seasons with the Minnesota Fighting Saints before playing for parts of two more with the New England Whalers and then a final two years with the Edmonton Oilers. This tough guy played in a total of 325 WHA regular season and playoff games combined, amassing 894 PIMS in the process!

The game wear on this size 50 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, runs, stitch pops, heavy pilling both inside and out along with a handful of team-sewn repairs. Also worthy of mention is the fight strap remnant from being cut away, a commonality on Busniuk gamers of the era. The all-original sewn-on lettering, numbering and crest are another treat worthy of mention. A tremendous WHA gamer with plenty of battle scars in tow, choice!
