This road blue dureen gamer by Rawlings is attributed to having been worn by Derek Sanderson during the 1975-77 NHL seasons. This Niagara Falls native made his NHL debut inn 1965-66 with the Boston Bruins where he played for a total of 9 seasons. During that span, Derek won a pair of Stanley Cup Championships and captured the 1966-67 Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. Sanderson spent 8 games in the WHA with the Philadelphia Blazers before returning to Boston later that season. He finished up his 13-year NHL career representing the Rangers, Blues, Canucks and Penguins. Sanderson was an adept goal scorer who also showed toughness and thus compiled PIMS. In 606 professional regular season games, Sanderson scored 205 goals, added 253 assists for 458 point and an impressive 980 PIMS.
The sleeves on this jersey have been shortened. Sewn into the collar is the Rawlings manufacturers tagging. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, light trauma to the rear collar and fine inner pilling. The shoulder-to-shoulder length player nameplate has been removed from the upper verso and lost to history. A nice old-school sweater that is nearly 50-years removed from the ice and hails from a lightly used and seldom seen set of Blues sweaters of which we’ve handled several examples thru the years.
