1975-76 Rejean Houle WHA Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey - Only 50-Goal Season
Lot #34
This home white heavyweight dureen gamer by Maska was worn by Rejean Houle during the 1975-76 WHA season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Houle with the 1st overall pick in the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. Rejean began his career with the Montreal Canadiens during the 1969-70 season. He remained in Montreal for 4 years before bolting to Quebec and the riches of the WHA where he skated for 3 seasons. Rejean rejoined Montreal in 1976-77 and represented the franchise for the next 7 years until announcing his retirement following the 1982-83 season. Houle won 5 Stanley Cups during his time in the NHL, all with Montreal, and scored a career best 30 NHL goals in 1977-78 for Les Habitants.

Rejean’s talents were really able to shine while in the WHA. During his 3 years with Quebec, Rejean partook in 214 games and netted 118 goals and 257 points. His career best totals of 51 goals and 52 assists for 103 points came while wearing this very sweater during the 1975-76 WHA season. Houle won the WHA All Star game MVP award in 1975 and led all playoff participants in goals later that same season. Houle was also a member of Team Canada for the WHA’s 8-Game All Star series against the Russians in 1974.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this heavyweight dureen consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs. One of the nicest styles in Quebec uniform history, this sweater features sewn on numbers and fler-di-lis’ as well as a 3-color sewn on crest. Worn by this 5-time Stanley Cup winner during his only 50-goal season, choice!
