Description
1975-76 Claude Larose WHA Cincinnati Stingers Game Worn Jersey Rookie - Inaugural Season Photo Match
Lot #22
This road black dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Claude Larose during the 1975-76 WHA season, the first year of existence for the Cincinnati Stingers. The Cincinnati Stingers selected Larose with the 1st overall pick in the 1975 WHA Amateur Draft. Also drafted by the New York Rangers the same year, Larose chose Cincinnati and made his professional debut in 1975-76 in the WHA. Claude would spend 3 seasons with the Stingers before finishing his WHA career with the Indianapolis Racers. After the collapse of the WHA, Larose joined the New York Rangers where he played for parts of a couple of seasons.

This jersey is fresh to the hobby, after being sourced right out of Ohio from an old-time Cincinnati Stingers fan who had kept this sweater since acquiring it from the team back in the 1970’s. The game wear on this size 48 heavy dureen is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. The Rawlings tag is sewn perfectly into the collar while the nameplate and fight strap are completely original to the jersey. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Larose wearing this exact jersey during the Winnipeg Jets home opener in 1975-76! Notice the exact matching positioning of the nameplate into the upper white shoulder band and the subsequent waviness of the plate. Larose played in the 1976 WHA All Star game during his rookie season, which incidentally took place at the Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland, Ohio. Larose, was the 1st overall draft pick in 1975 and went on to represent the Cincinnati Stingers while wearing this sweater during their inaugural season of play. This outstanding photo matched offering is completely original and fresh to our hobby after being cherished by our consignor for the past four decades, choice!
