Description
1975-76 Charles Constantin WHA Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey
Lot #54

This home white dureen gamer by Maska was worn by Charles Constantin during the 1975-76 WHA season. The NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and the WHA’s Quebec Nordiques simultaneously drafted Constantin in 1974. This Montreal native spent four seasons in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts and then chose to play for the hometown Nordiques as he began his WHA career in 1974-75. Charles spent four seasons in the WHA, playing all but his final six games with the Nordiques. He wrapped up his career with the Indianapolis Racers in 1978. Constantin was part of the 1977 Avco Cup winning squad that celebrated the only Major Pro Championship in Quebec history.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and some fantastic team-sewn repair work that includes some major sew-jobs, a couple of handfuls all told. Fight abuse is also evident with stitch pops, washed out bloodstains and a torn and repaired front collar with a bit of un-repaired trauma left behind. This tough guy partook in 41 games and racked up 77 PIMS while wearing this sweater on home ice during the 1975-76 season. This beautiful example hails from the final set of dureen jerseys in Quebec history. Everything is all-original and completely sewn-on, other than the lettering of Constantin’s surname, which remains in perfect condition! A terrific example that is now more than 40-years removed from the ice.
