This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings and Steichens was worn by Mike Curran during the 1974-75 WHA season while tending goal for the Minnesota Fighting Saints. This International Falls, MN native played his college hockey at the University of North Dakota and led his charge to back-to-back Championship games before spending time with the U.S. National and Olympic Teams. Curran became recognized as one of the greatest goaltenders in USA history, representing his country 7-times and being named Goalie of the 1970’s for the USA all-time team. Curran was MVP of the 1972 Olympics as he helped Team USA to a Silver Medal thanks in part to his legendary 51 save effort against the Czechs. Curran is an honored member of the US Hockey Hall of Fame. Curran’s professional career was spent with the hometown Minnesota Fighting Saints where he played from inception in 1972 thru the team’s final season of 1976-77.
Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the Rawlings and Steichens tags. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick, slash and puck marks, along with a couple of un-repaired holes, pulls and pilling. The original nameplate is a treat certainly worthy of mention as is the stunning blue, white and gold intricately stitched crest. A fantastic vintage example that was worn by this hometown hero and US Hockey Hall of Famer, choice!
