This green Philadelphia Firebirds fleece jacket by Birdie was worn by Jack Chipchase in 1974-75, the Firebirds inaugural season and Chipchase’s only season with the club. Chipchase was a career minor leaguer who played in the AHL, WHL, CPHL, EHL, SHL and NAHL. He also played in the WHA with the Philadelphia Blazers in 1972-73.
The Philadelphia Firebirds existed for only 5 seasons, three in the NAHL and two in the AHL after the NAHL folded. The Firebirds franchise’s final season was in 1979-80 after the team relocated to Syracuse NY. Some of the more well known players who played with the Firebirds are Norm Barnes, Reggie Lemelin, George Swarbrick, Rick Wilson, Buster Harvey, Terry Murray, Ralph Klassen and Merlin Malinowski. This green fleece jacket, size L, has the player nickname “Chis” on the right breast. The player number “2” is on the right sleeve. The Firebirds name and logo is on the left breast while a large Firebirds logo resides on the back. Firebirds items are extremely difficult to find, as the team was in existence for only 5 seasons in the mid 1970’s.
