Description
1974-75 Garry Monahan Vancouver Canucks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #31
This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Garry Monahan during the 1974-75 NHL season. Monahan made NHL history when, in 1963, he became the first player ever drafted into the NHL as the Montreal Canadiens selected him with the 1st overall pick in the 1963 NHL Amateur Draft. Monahan spent parts of 2 seasons playing for Montreal before joining the Red Wings and Kings for the 1969-70 season. Monahan next spent 4 full seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and then joined the Vancouver Canucks just after the start of the 1974-75 season. Monahan spent 4 years with the Canucks and finished his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1978-79.

Perfectly sewn into the hip of this dureen is the Rawlings tag. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes and fine inner pilling. The original garter style fight strap remains perfectly sewn to the back between the player numbers. A fantastic well-preserved vintage offering that sports the desirable old-school blue, green and white tackle twill Canucks stick crest and was worn by the first player ever drafted into the NHL, choice!
