Description
1973-74 Ross Perkins WHA Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #23

This home white dureen gamer by Western Athletic Supply was worn by Ross Perkins during the 1973-74 WHA season. Perkins began his professional career in the late 1960’s and spent 5 seasons playing for both the Fort Worth Wings and San Diego Gulls. When the WHA formed in 1972-73, Perkins became one of the Alberta Oilers original members. Ross spent 3 seasons in the World Hockey Association, representing the Alberta-Edmonton franchise each of those years. In fact, Perkins finished 3rd and 4th respectively in team scoring during the Oilers first two seasons of play.

Sewn into the hem of this gamer is the Western Athletic Supply manufacturers tag. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, fine inner pilling and team-sewn repair work. Best of all is the chain stitching on the nameplate and crest, which are a site to behold on this 2nd year WHA jersey. A beautiful all-original offering from the Edmonton Oilers 2nd year of existence!
