1972 Dennis Hull Team Canada Summit Series Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match Dennis Hull Letter
Lot #1

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to present Dennis Hull’s 1972 Team Canada Game Worn Jersey. This exciting offering comes directly from the personal collection of 5-time NHL All Star and 1972 Team Canada member Dennis Hull. This jersey was incredibly preserved in Mr. Hull’s personal collection since leaving the ice 45 years ago. A pair of autographed 8 x 10’s and a signed letter from Dennis Hull will accompany your purchase.

This red heavy knit gamer by Maska was worn by Dennis Hull during the 1972 Summit Series. The Hull family bloodlines run as deep as they come with Bobby, brother Dennis and Brett Hull having taken their places in hockey lore. Dennis Hull began his NHL career in 1964-65 with the Chicago Blackhawks where he helped his team to the Stanley Cup Finals as a rookie. Hull played for 13 seasons with the Hawks before playing one final year with the Detroit Red Wings. Hull lit the lamp 303 times and added 351 assists for 654 points over the course of his award-laden career. Dennis scored a career best 40 Goals in 1970-71 and the 1972-73 season saw him tally a career best 90 points. Not surprisingly, both of those seasons saw Chicago advance to the Stanley Cup Finals where they fell to the unbeatable Montreal Canadiens both times. Hull was a 5-time NHL All Star who earned 2nd Team NHL All Star honors in 1972-73. Hull’s crowning achievement came as a member of Team Canada in 1972 as they miraculously overcame a deficit to win the 8-game Summit Series and take their place in hockey history.

The body of this gamer has been custom shortened for Hull by the training staff, not uncommon among these Summit Series sweaters. Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Tricot Sport Maska tag. The partial remnant of another tag remains affixed alongside. Stylistically beautiful, this brilliant red and white jersey features the full maple leaf on the front with Canada and Hull’s player number 10 sewn to the verso. The game wear on this sweater consists of some stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, an un-repaired hole and inner pilling. Shown above are some beautiful images of Hull wearing this exact jersey while scoring a Goal against Tretiak in the 4th Game of the historic Summit Series. It turned out to be Team Canada’s last Goal on the continent before the series headed to Moscow for the final 4 Games. Also shown above is the official 1972 Team Canada photograph that shows Dennis wearing this jersey. Lastly are a couple of recent autographed photos of Mr. Hull holding up this jersey. Dennis has penned a personalized note to the eventual winning bidder! This historic offering hails from perhaps the greatest series there ever was and comes to you straight from Dennis Hull’s personal collection, choice!
