Lot #649

Atkinson was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings 6th overall in the 1966 NHL Entry Draft and was immediately traded to the Boston Bruins. Steve played only one game for the Bruins during the two seasons he spent in the Bruins organization before being drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1970 Expansion Draft. After four seasons in Buffalo, Atkinson was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 1974 Expansion Draft. Steve played one season in Washington and then one season in the WHA with the Toros before basically calling it a career.

Atkinson died of a heart attack on May 6, 2003 at the age of 54.

Our consignor went to a hockey game every night and had all autographs signed personally. The signature and card are in beautiful condition.
