Description
1972-73 Roger Cote WHA Alberta Oilers Game Worn Jersey Inaugural WHA Season
Lot #28

This road orange knit gamer by Western Athletic Supply was worn by Roger Cote during the 1972-73 WHA season, the league’s inaugural season. This Quebec native spent 13 seasons playing minor-pro before making his WHA debut in 1972-73 with the Alberta Oilers, becoming an original member of the Alberta-Edmonton Oilers franchise. Cote spent two seasons on the Oilers defense before playing one final WHA season with the Indianapolis Racers.

Sewn perfectly into the hem of this gamer is the Western Athletic Supply manufacturers tag. The game wear on this 2nd set sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. Original in all respects, the hand-stitched detail of the crest and nameplate on these vintage Alberta jerseys is also a treat most worthy of mention. An all-original WHA inaugural season offering from the Oilers first year as a franchise and the only season that they were formally known as the Alberta Oilers, choice!
