1972-73 OPC autographed card of #71 Keith Magnuson. Keith Magnuson played 11 seasons in the NHL all with the Chicago Black Hawks. Magnuson was a staple on the blueline for the Hawks, helping lead them to two Stanley Cup finals. He was captain for a few seasons and also coached the Black Hawks for the better part of two seasons. On November 12, 2008, Magnuson’s #3 (Along with Pierre Pilote) was retired.
On December 15, 2003, at the age of 54, Magnuson was killed when the car he was in swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the car, former NHL defenseman Rob Ramage, was convicted on five counts of impaired driving causing death. On January 17, 2008, Ramage was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
