Description
1972-73 Noel Picard Atlanta Flames Game Worn Jersey - Inaugural Season - One Year Style
Lot #32
This road red dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Noel Picard during the 1972-73 NHL season, the Atlanta Flames inaugural year. Picard spent 7 seasons in the NHL, beginning his career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1964-65 and ending his career with the expansion Atlanta Flames in 1972-73. In between, Picard helped anchor the expansion St. Louis Blues defense where he played from 1967-72. Noel played a rugged and fearless style and amassed 616 PIMS in 335 career NHL games. During that time, Picard went to 3 consecutive Stanley Cup Finals and became part of NHL history as he was immortalized in hockey’s most famous photo as the man tripping Bobby Orr as he scored the overtime goal to win the 1970 Stanley Cup.

Sewn perfectly into the hem of this heavy weight first year franchise offering is the Rawlings manufacturers tag. The game wear on this size 46 dureen is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, a couple of un-repaired holes, heavy inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. First year Atlanta Flames jerseys have proven particularly elusive over the years. In fact, this is the first example that we’ve had the pleasure of offering. A terrific well-worn jersey that the Flames wore only during their inaugural NHL season, choice!
