1972-73 Doug Jarrett Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals Game Worn Jersey
Lot #39

This road red dureen gamer by Wilson and Gunzo’s was worn by Doug Jarrett during the 1972-73 NHL season and playoffs. Jarrett began his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1964-65 where he remained for his first 11 NHL seasons. Doug spent his final two seasons in New York after being dealt to the Rangers in exchange for Goalie Gilles Villemure. Jarrett teamed on the Chicago blueline with the likes of Keith Magnuson and Phil Russell. The duos proved to be a tenacious pair for the opposition to play against. During his 11 seasons in the Windy City, Jarrett played in several Stanley Cup Finals yet failed to skate away with hockey’s biggest prize. In 1975, Jarrett’s final year with the Hawks, he represented his team in the NHL All Star Game.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the Wilson and Gunzo’s tags. Removed from the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size 48 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired holes, heavy inner pilling and some fantastic team-sewn repair work. Chain-stitched to the inside hem is the ‘73’ year tag. Shown above are several photos that show Jarrett wearing his road red during the 1973 Stanley Cup Finals in Montreal. Removed from the shoulders are the Winterhawks logos, which were applied after this sweater was recycled for use by Chicago’s minor league affiliate. The prettiest logo in all of sports remains proudly sewn to the chest in its original hand-stitched condition. This vintage dureen sports terrific game use and was worn by this All Star defenseman during the 1972-73 regular season and playoffs as the Hawks wouldn’t make their next trip to the Stanley Cup Finals for another 37 years!
