1972-73 Don Herriman WHA Philadelphia Blazers Game Worn Jersey Inaugural Season
Lot #6

This home yellow dureen gamer by Pearsons was worn by Don Herriman during the 1972-73 WHA season. Herriman spent 6 seasons in the minors, representing the Muskegon Mohawks, Memphis South Stars and Clinton Comets before joining the professional ranks in 1972-73 as a member of the WHA’s Philadelphia Blazers. Herriman teamed on the Blazers first line alongside RW Danny Lawson and C Andre Lacroix. The dynamic trio teamed up to score a league-leading 135 Goals and 302 Points in the WHA’s first season of play. Don netted 24 Goals and added 48 Assists for 72 Points while wearing this jersey during the WHA’s inaugural season. After the Blazers left Philadelphia, Herriman chose to stay on the East Coast and in 1973-74 he played for the New York Golden Blades and Jersey Knights. He finished up his WHA career with a final season in Edmonton the following year.

Sewn perfectly into the hem of this gamer is the Pearson manufacturers tag. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, a couple of small material runs on the rear hem, stitch pops and inner pilling. Best of all is the all-original nameplate that sits high atop the upper verso. Philadelphia Blazers game worn jerseys have proven among the leagues toughest for collectors to place their hands upon. This example is one of a seldom few to ever appear at Major Auction and based on our research it is the only Philadelphia Blazers jersey to exist in the hobby with an original nameplate! With still vibrant colors and tremendous eye appeal, this true hobby rarity will become the instant centerpiece in any serious WHA collection, choice!
