1971-72 Hank Nowak Richmond Robins Game Worn Jersey Inaugural Season
Lot #300

This home white dureen gamer by General Athletic was worn by Hank Nowak during the 1971-72 AHL season, the Richmond Robins inaugural season. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Nowak in the 7th round of the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft. Nowak made his NHL debut in 1973-74 with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hank went on to play a season for the Detroit Red Wings before wrapping up his NHL career following three years with the Boston Bruins.

Perfectly sewn into the hem of this gamer is the General Athletic tagging. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. The player name Nowak was previously stitched directly to the upper verso and subsequently removed by the team. Hank only played one season as a member of the Richmond Robins who came into existence in 1971-72 as the Philadelphia Flyers AHL affiliate. The Robins fielded a lineup of Broad Street Bullies that included Rick MacLeish, Don Saleski, Dave Schultz (pictured above) and Bill Clement. This is an extremely rare style, being the first home white, we’ve ever had the pleasure to handle and just the second such example we’ve ever personally seen! This fresh to the hobby rarity was just unearthed after having been put away since its acquisition directly from a friend of Hank Nowak’s back in the 1970’s, choice!
