Description
1970's Fibrosport Tweener Goalie Mask - Maple Leaf Paint Job
Lot #652
This 1970's tweener mask by Fibrosport was made to protect the older kids. It is called a tweener because it is the size betweeen kid and adult. The eyes have actually been made larger by the original owner for better vision. The mask has been custom painted Maple Leafs blue and white.

The Fibrosport company was started in 1970 by goaltender Jacques Plante and sold both custom made and mass-produced masks. Masks were made of high-impact fiberglass as well as epoxy resin and featured ridges to help deflect pucks instead of absorbing the full impact. At its peak Fibrosport produced upwards of 8000 masks a year. The company ceased operating in 1979.
