1969-70 Yves Locas Providence Reds Game Worn Jersey - Autographed by Mr. Red “Zellio Toppazzini” – Deceased
Lot #301

This white dureen gamer was worn by Yves Locas during the 1969-70 AHL season. Locas was a career minor leaguer who began play in the late 1950’s. Locas spent a couple of seasons in the EPHL and another in the WHL before embarking on an 8-year career in the AHL. During that time, Yves represented the Hershey Bears, Pittsburgh Hornets, Springfield Indians and the Providence Reds where his 30-goals led the team in goal scoring in 1968-69.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size 46 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, inner pilling and more than a handful of team-sewn repairs. The coveted shooting Rooster crest is sewn to the front and is a colorful sight to behold. Beneath the crest is a beautiful black sharpie signature in the hand of “Mr. Red” Zellio Toppazzini. Zellio of course wore #15 for the Reds and set all of the franchise scoring records during his 12-year career with the club. Toppazzini was named Rhode Island Reds player of the century and is the 6th highest scorer in AHL history. Zellio was elected to the AHL Hall of Fame in 2012. Toppazzini passed away in 2001. A terrific minor league offering that sports the coveted letter of honor and a Hall of Fame deceased autograph!
