Ferguson played 3 seasons with the Cleveland Barons of the AHL before joining the Canadiens in 1963-64. He played all 8 NHL seasons with the Habs. Brought up as an enforcer to protect Jean Beliveau, Ferguson proved to be an offensive threat as well, leading all rookies in scoring and finishing runner-up for the Calder Trophy in 1963-64. He scored 29 goals in 1968-69 while also scoring the 1969 Stanley Cup winning goal. He played in 2 NHL All Star games and was a five-time Stanley Cup champion.

Upon leaving the ice, John went into coaching, becoming an assistant coach for Team Canada during the Summit Series in 1972. He gained notoriety because he asked Bobby Clarke to “take out” Soviet star Valeri Kharlamov with a slash to his ankle. John later became head coach and then general manager of the New York Rangers before joining the WHA and then NHL with the Winnipeg Jets. Ferguson passed away in 2007.

Our consignor went to a hockey game every night and had all autographs signed personally. The card and signature is beautiful.
