1969-70 Ernie Hicke Salt Lake Golden Eagles Game Worn Jersey
Lot #203

This item comes directly from the personal collection of Hall of Fame Trainer, Ken “Doc” Fleger.

This red, white, blue and gold heavy dureen gamer by General Athletic was worn by Ernie Hicke in the inaugural season for the WHL’s Salt Lake City franchise. Hicke spent the decade of the 1970’s as a LW on various NHL squads including the Golden Seals, Islanders, Flames, Kings and North Stars. In Ernie’s rookie NHL season as a member of the California Golden Seals he netted 22 goals and 47 assists. In 1976-77 with Minnesota, Hicke joined the 30-goal club for the only time in his career. While wearing this sweater in his only season with the Golden Eagles, Hicke scored 29 goals and 55 points in 65 games played. He also spent 83 minutes in the sin bin.

This fantastic looking 1st year dureen shows solid game use which includes stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling, un-repaired holes and a couple of team-sewn repairs. Sewn to the inside hem is the heavily faded General Athletic manufacturer’s tag. The Golden Eagle crest features some nice chain stitched detail, while the heavy dureen piping along the sleeves, body and hem were stylistically well ahead of their time. Among the nicest looking minor league styles we've had the pleasure of handling.
