Dillabough started his career in the Red Wings organization, playing with the Wings briefly in 1961-62, 1962-63, 1963-64 and 1964-65. In each of those seasons he mostly played for the Pittsburgh Hornets of the AHL, while only playing in 15 games with the Wings in those 4 seasons combined. In 1965-66, Dillabough joined the Boston Bruins where he played for 2 seasons. He joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for their inaugural season of 1967-68, playing 1+ season in Pittsburgh and then 1+ season with the Oakland Seals to complete his NHL career. Bob did play in the WHA with the Cleveland Crusaders in their inaugural season of 1972-73. Dillabough died on March 27, 1997 at the age of 55.
