Mickey played for 7 NHL team over a career that lasted 11 NHL seasons. He also spent seasons in the AHL, CPHL, WHL and NEHL. In 1967, Mickey lost his 20-year-old wife in a car accident while driving on a country road in Nebraska when blowing dust from a nearby field reduced visibility to almost zero. Mickey committed suicide in Buffalo in July of 1982, at the age of 38, by sitting in his car, in his garage, with the engine running.
