1963-65 Frank Crawford Syracuse Stars Game Worn Jersey
Lot #546

This wonderful piece of minor league hockey history was recently sourced from the old Syracuse Trainer and is being brought to Auction for the first time.

This home gold and black dureen gamer by Varsity Sport Shop out of Syracuse New York was worn by Frank Crawford during the 1963-64 and likely the 1964-65 season as well. The Syracuse Stars of the 1960’s played as an Independent Team during their 6 seasons spanning 1963-70. They were just a part of Syracuse’s long hockey history, which spans back to the 1930’s and continues to this day. Frank Crawford spent two seasons with the Stars wearing the player #8, playing in their inaugural Independent season of 1963-64 and during their 2nd season of 1964-65.

Sewn into the hem of this gamer is this gamer is the Varsity Sports Shop Syracuse New York tag. Sewn into the collar is the size tag. The game wear on this size 42 sweater is solid and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, runs, pilling both inside and out and team-sewn repair work. Shown above is a beautiful photo of Crawford wearing his gold sweater during the Stars first season in 1963-64. This is the first time that we can recall seeing a vintage Syracuse Stars sweater come up for Auction. This very tough minor league sweater was recently sourced directly from the old Syracuse Trainer. It’s remarkable to think that this gamer is now more than half a century removed from the ice!
