1963-64 Bob Courcy Omaha Knights Game Worn Jersey Photo Match
Lot #220

This red dureen gamer by General Athletic was worn by Bob Courcy during the 1963-64 CHL season. Courcy enjoyed a lengthy minor-pro career that spanned 18 seasons across the QHL, EPHL, CHL, WHL and the AHL. Courcy was a dynamic scorer who had four 40 goals seasons including a career best 48 goals for the San Diego Gulls in 1970-71.

Removed from the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, inner pilling and more than 40 team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Courcy wearing this exact jersey during the 1963-64 season. Courcy led a stacked Knights team that included Barclay Plager, Garry Peters and Claude Larose among other future NHLers. Bob topped the Knights in scoring while wearing this sweater, striking for team highs with 36 goals and 82 points. This is the first such example of this tough style that we recall ever seeing at major auction. A tremendous photo matched offering featuring nice game use of a very tough style that will surely enhance any serious minor league collection.
