1956-57 Parkhurst Reprint Jean Beliveau Montreal Canadiens Autographed Card – Deceased
Lot #588

Beliveau played 20 NHL seasons, all wearing the Montreal Canadiens red white and blue. Beliveau scored 507 goals and 1219 points in 1125 regular season games. In 162 playoff contests, on his way to 10 Stanley Cup titles, Beliveau netted 79 goals and 176 points, a lofty total still to this day and a mark that was the best of all-time when he hung up his skates! Beliveau owns an Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader and 2 Hart Trophies as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player. Jean was also the recipient of the very first Conn Smythe Trophy awarded to the playoff MVP in 1965. One wonders how many might reside on his mantel were the award established a decade earlier. When discussions occur about hockey’s all-time greats, most include this 6’3” 205lb. Center. In the famed publication by The Hockey News, the Top 50 NHL Players Of All-Time, Jean Beliveau was ranked 7th on that prestigious list.

Beliveau was an inspiration on and off the ice for a generation of players that followed including many French-Canadian legends such as Guy Lafleur, Gilbert Perreault and Rod Gilbert to name just a few. He served as Team Captain for the Montreal Canadiens for 10 seasons and was handed the Cup a record 5-times in that prestigious role. ‘Le Gros Bill’ played in 14 NHL All Star games and was 10-times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star at Center. Beliveau was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame just a year after retiring from the NHL and his player number 4 was immediately and forever retired to the rafters in Montreal after his retirement in 1971. Unfortunately, Jean passed away late in 2014.

The card is in beautiful condition and the signature is a 10.
